Manufacturer and Tasting Notes

  • Alpha Zeta Corvina 2005
      Alpha Zeta Corvina 2005: (close)

The Alpha Zeta (A to Z in English) wines cover the whole range of grapes and flavours found in the Veneto in northeastern Italy. The style of this wine is resolutely wodern, yet rooted in the ancient traditions of this area.

C is for the Corvina grapes, the best natuve variety of this region, carefully selected from several vineyards in the hills outside of Verona to make this wine. C is also for the contemporary style and crimson colour of this lightly oaked wine, and for the spiced plum and chocolatey fruit on the palate.

  • Pinot Grigio Il Cantico 2007
Pinot Grigio Il Cantico 2007 : (close)

Pinot Grigio is now a very popular wine in the UK and has been described as the ‘new Chardonnay’. After the harvest, the grapes are left to macerate on the skins for a few days, and fermentation lasts for 16 to18 days at a temperature of 17 degrees. Cold fermentation brings out more flavour than the traditional warmer fermentation. The wine is pale yellow/green and clear and bright in the glass. Though not wine to be taken too seriously, this is soft and easy drinking, making it the perfect party wine or just to enjoy when friends call.

  • Highfield Preserves
      Highfield Preserves: (close)

Highfield Preserves began life in 1984 on the family Aga in the Fraser household in Devon. Since then, Jennifer Fraser has passed the reins to her son, Don and the company has moved to purpose-built premises on the outskirts of Tiverton. The company now employs ten people and produces in excess of 2,500 jars a day, in over 40 different flavours, with many more recipes in their books - many of which have won medals at regional and national competitions.

  • Paddy and Scotts
      Paddy and Scotts: (close)

Passion and pride – with more than a little hard work - brought Paddy and Scotts to the pinnacle of coffee blending.

Starting life in a garage in Earl Soham, Suffolk, the two coffee lovers spent over six months blending a variety of beans in an effort to produce the perfect blend. And it was not just the quality that they were after, for they sought to produce blends suitable for the appropriate time of day or occasion.

Each blend is hand roasted and the company now produces twenty exquisite gourmet coffees. Such was the demand and popularity that the garage was soon left behind and the company moved to a new showroom café where they are able to showcase their exquisite blends.

Paddy and Scotts are dedicated supporters of Fair Trade and they continue to back projects and charities funding education in existing schools.

  • The Yorkshire Crisp Company
      The Yorkshire Crisp Company: (close)

We all can honestly say that these crisps are truly amazing. Fried in pure sunflower oil and flavoured with completely natural ingredients, the difference in taste is remarkable.  The crisps are light, flavoursome and a great favourite with the staff here!

They use locally grown vegetables and no artificial flavourings or colourings. Their main motivation to create these wonderful products was so that they could create a range of crisps with natural ingredients that complement a drink without overpowering it. The company has been running since 2005, consists of only four full-time employees and we find their drums of crisps are particularly good for sharing with friends. The drums are re-sealable to ensure that they stay fresh for up to a week, although we don’t think you’ll get the chance to prove this!
