Manufacturer and Tasting Notes

  • Bordeaux Superieur Chateau Manoubrey Appellation Bordeaux Superieur Controlee 2005
Bordeaux Superieur Chateau Manoubrey Appellation Bordeaux Superieur Controlee 2005: (close)

A wine from the wonderful vintage of 2005, and of Superieur status, Chateau Manoubrey is produced from 58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, and 20% Cabernet Franc, the classic Bordeaux blend. Supple and full of fruit, it will keep and yet is drinking well now. Very good with any meat dish.

  • Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot W Klug VDP d'Oc 2006
Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot W Klug VDP d'Oc 2006 : (close)

The vineyards are located in the south of France, in Languedoc/Roussilion, and the winery is near Limoux, in a cooler climate area.  The soils are gravel and clay/chalk.  Grapes are harvested when just ripe, crushed and fermented for 15 to 20 days.  Part of the Merlot is matured in oak for 6 months before it is blended and bottled. The wine has a good deep colour and a bouquet of red fruit and blackcurrants. The palate is firm with a fine tannic structure and good length of flavour. A wine to go well with all meats.

  • Cotes du Rhone La Dive Appellation Cotes du Rhone Controlee 2005
Cotes du Rhone La Dive Appellation Cotes du Rhone Controlee 2005: (close)

La Dive comes from a selection of the best cuvees of the appellation. It is a blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah, and is made by traditional methods, with temperature controlled fermentation of about 10 or 12 days. With a complex bouquet of red fruits and peppery overtones from the Syrah, it is fruity, with plenty of body, smooth tannins and good length of flavour. Perfect with lamb, poultry, or any roast.

  • Pinot Grigio Il Cantico 2007
Pinot Grigio Il Cantico 2007 : (close)

Pinot Grigio is now a very popular wine in the UK and has been described as the ‘new Chardonnay’. After the harvest, the grapes are left to macerate on the skins for a few days, and fermentation lasts for 16 to18 days at a temperature of 17 degrees. Cold fermentation brings out more flavour than the traditional warmer fermentation. The wine is pale yellow/green and clear and bright in the glass. Though not wine to be taken too seriously, this is soft and easy drinking, making it the perfect party wine or just to enjoy when friends call.

  • Sauvignon Blanc Chardonnay W Klug VDP d'Oc 2006
Sauvignon Blanc Chardonnay W Klug VDP d'Oc 2006 : (close)

Situated in the Oc region, the largest vineyard area in the world, the grapes are harvested when just ripe, destemmed, crushed and left to macerate for a few hours then gently pressed.  Fermentation takes place at low temperature (18-20 degrees C).  The Chardonnay is matured in oak barrels for 6 months and then blended.  The wine is clear and bright, with a hint of greenish shading, the bouquet is of citrus and pineapple.  The taste is full and round with good balanced acidity. This wine drinks well as an aperitif or with any fish dish.

  • Tempranillo Pagos de Eguren Vino de la Tierra de Castilla
Tempranillo Pagos de Eguren Vino de la Tierra de Castilla : (close)

This wine is a beautiful cherry red with wonderful blackberry and plum jam aromas. Warm in the mouth with fleshy mature tannins, this has a long, savoury palate. Enjoy with strong flavours and rich food.
