Bordeaux Blanc Chateau Beyran Appellation Bordeaux Controlee 2005 : (close) The Chateau is in the Entre Deux Mers, a region which forms a long triangle 60kms long and 30kms wide between the Garonne and Dordogne rivers. Produced from a blend of 75% Semillon, 20% Sauvignon and 5% Muscadelle, this is classic Bordeaux Blanc, crisp, dry, and with good acidity. This should be delicious as an aperitif or with seafood.

Bordeaux Rouge Chateau Beyran Appellation Bordeaux Controlee 2003 : (close) This delightful Bordeaux Rouge is made from vines grown on the hills overlooking the Garonne River, a region producing particularly elegant wines. The soil is clay/limestone, and the vineyard covers 56 acres. Produced from a blend of 43% Merlot, 51% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 6% Cabernet Franc, this deep ruby coloured wine has a bouquet of ripe fruits with hints of prune and liquorice. It is quite firm on the palate, but with reasonably mature tannins and a long balanced finish. It should keep for at least 5 years and will partner all meats.

Chenin Blanc Olifants River Valley Lutzville SA 2008: (close) The Cape Diamond Co-Operative is the second largest in South Africa, with the emphasis very much on quality. Produced in the Olifants River vineyards, the most westerly in South Africa, the cooling influences of the river and the ocean provide ideal conditions for growing high quality grapes.The white wine, is 100% Chenin Blanc, chosen from slow ripening fruit to obtain fuller flavours, and made in stainless steel to maximise freshness and crispness.At 12% alcohol, this is a fruity, crisp wine, with tropical fruit and apple flavours. The finish is fresh and balanced.Drink as an aperitif, or with fish or cheese. -

Merlot Olifants River Valley Lutzville SA 2006: (close) The Cape Diamond Co-Operative is the second largest in South Africa, with the emphasis very much on quality. Produced in the Olifants River vineyards, the most westerly in South Africa, the cooling influences of the river and the ocean provide ideal conditions for growing high quality grapes.The Merlot is 100% Merlot, and after fermentation has a short ageing in oak casks, and achieves 14% alcohol.A typical Merlot, with berry, cassis, and mint flavours. Soft tannins, and smooth palate make this ideal to drink with Lamb or Chicken.
