Named for the kind of evening it’s made for, Fireside Wine Collection fills a medium oval kubu gift basket with twelve bottles built for slow drinking by the fire this Christmas. Two New Zealand-grown Kintu wines open things up -a Cabernet Sauvignon and a Sauvignon Blanc -followed by Tooma River Reserve’s Chardonnay and Shiraz from Australia. A pair of Vinoir bottles, Merlot and Pinot Grigio, cover easy mid-week drinking, while Marcel Martin’s Sauvignon Blanc and Domaine Grauzan’s Cabernet Sauvignon add two more French options to choose between. For something with a bit more sparkle, both Il Papavero Prosecco and a Zonin Prosecco Brut Rose are included, alongside a Chateau Lauriga Rivesaltes Ambre and an Antonio Jose Da Silva tawny port for finishing the evening properly. Twelve bottles is enough to get through several fireside evenings without reaching for the same wine twice.
