Farmhouse Biscuits are a family run biscuit manufacturer based in the Pendle area of Lancashire. At least four generations of the family have been making biscuits. The wealth of experience from the past and current generations along with the original recipes have been passed down for all to enjoy in the future.
From small beginnings, the company now operate from a purpose-built 175,000 sq feet facility, employing over 200 people. The process of making biscuits hasn't changed though; they are still made in the same way using, old traditional methods and equipment.
Four generations of Macleans have been Scottish Master Bakers. Today, in the picturesque Moray town of Forres, the Maclean family manage three elements in their Bakery business; their traditional Craft Bakery, their retail shops and wholesale customers as well as their biscuit production.
The Macleans use local and natural ingredients, some well kept secrets fom the family recipe book, the inspiration of Macbeth and the skills of a family steeped in the traditions of Scottish Baking to produce the range of products that their customers enjoy.
The Cottage Delight story had a modest start. In 1974 Nigel Cope was working in the retail industry for a multi national company and had a young family to raise and support. Having worked in what he felt was a large impersonal organisation; Nigel wanted a change for both himself and his family. An opportunity presented itself when Nigel obtained a recipe for traditional melt in the mouth butter fudge. He set about turning his home kitchen into a part time business making and selling his fudge to local independent stores across Staffordshire and Derbyshire.
With an emphasis on producing a quality product, Nigel was adamant that through Cottage Delight he could provide an inspirational alternative to the produce available on supermarket shelves which he felt was limited in terms of choice and taste. By developing strong ties with independent retailers, Cottage Delight quickly grew to enable Nigel to work in the business full time and hire his first employee to help with deliveries.
Nigel worked with a local jam maker to produce the first jarred Cottage Delight products which included a range of jams and chutneys. As the business began to grow Nigel was keen to remain focused on the quality of his product and wanted to ensure that he was able to retain the home made taste and look to his products. His wife Diana hand drew the first Cottage Delight logo, a version of which is still used today, and they created a strong and unique look for the brand.
Now in its fourth generation, this family business carries on the tradition of baking biscuits to many of the same recipes created by great Grandmother Annie Wild over 100 years ago.
From humble beginnings in the Victorian seaside resort of Morecambe, in Lancashire Annie Wild ran a bakery shop and boarding house (today's Bed & Breakfast) whilst being a full time mother to three boys. Her eldest son John Wild decided to move back to his Yorkshire roots in the 1920's, away from the seasonal summer trade, where Annie and her son opened a shop in Haworth.
In 1928 he bought larger premises just outside Haworth and this remained the family bakery until the millennium, then moving on to larger premises in Steeton, West Yorkshire. Today's business remains committed to the traditional family values of its founder Grandma Annie Wild.
Matthew Walker has been making Christmas puddings since 1899 and is the world’s oldest Christmas pudding maker. Today they manufacture more Christmas puddings than anyone else, combining the finest ingredients from around the world with a traditional steaming process that ensures that every pudding has just the right balance of flavours and is a joy to eat.
Passion and pride – with more than a little hard work - brought Paddy and Scotts to the pinnacle of coffee blending.
Starting life in a garage in Earl Soham, Suffolk, the two coffee lovers spent over six months blending a variety of beans in an effort to produce the perfect blend. And it was not just the quality that they were after, for they sought to produce blends suitable for the appropriate time of day or occasion.
Each blend is hand roasted and the company now produces twenty exquisite gourmet coffees. Such was the demand and popularity that the garage was soon left behind and the company moved to a new showroom café where they are able to showcase their exquisite blends.
Paddy and Scotts are dedicated supporters of Fair Trade and they continue to back projects and charities funding education in existing schools.

With over 30 years baking experience, the Original Cake Company produces some of the very finest hand finished fruit and loaf cakes in Britain. Winners of numerous Great Taste Awards, the business operates from a dedicated bakery in Lincoln, with a team of bakers and staff who individually hand mix, bake and top all the products. The Original Cake Company remain one of the only businesses in Britain who still hand wrap each product!
All cakes are hand-made and decorated in small batches as they have always been, using free range eggs and natural ingredients wherever possible. They are, "just like you'd make at home".
As a privately owned craft bakery The Original Cake Company are small enough to ensure top quality, but large enough to supply bigger customers including some of the country's best wholesalers and distributors.
